For the first time, a colleague from Albania will participate in the Referee Cup: Rejdi Avdo (39) from Tirana has already confirmed he will be in Lüneburg in June 2027 to officiate matches at the tournament. A FIFA assistant referee since 2006, he has officiated numerous matches across Europe, from Baku to Seville.
Having lived in Flensburg for a time, he speaks good German—welcome, Rejdi!

Cooperation agreement with SVE cult pub owner

An important part of the tournament is also SVE’s legendary host “Bobby” Gavrilovic.
In 2024, he had to improvise a lot due to water damage in his kitchen, which he, of course, managed to do, and for many tournament participants, his legendary Serbian hospitality is another important reason to take part in the Referee Cup.
Initial discussions with the tournament organizers have already taken place, and it is planned that some televisions will be available to watch matches from the Women’s World Cup, which is being held at the same time. The legendary schnitzel buffet will also be available again, and breakfast will be offered to campers at the sports complex.

Third promotion – what a season

Last summer she was promoted to the women’s 3rd league as a referee and to the 2nd women’s Bundesliga as an assistant – during the winter break she moved up to the men’s 7th league as a referee: the 20 y. o. shooting star Hanna Hofmann from SV Eintracht is just on the road to success.

Shortly before leaving after completing a semester abroad in the Greek metropolis of Athens, SVE top referee Celina Boehm was given a nice farewell gift on December 10, 2023: at the game AO Vougliameni – AO Peanias (2-0) in the 5th league as an assistant referee, she accompanied her Greek colleagues Konstantinos Arganis (Ref.) and Stamatis Vogiatzis (Ref. Ass.). Original sound Celina: “It was a cool experience!” – what we believe without considering it. SV Eintracht is everywhere! 😉

On January 27th, the Referee Cup organizing team began the detailed planning of this big event at a meeting.

The organizers want to go high with the Referee Cup: here on the Kalkberg above the rooftops of Lüneburg


After a small pedestrian rally through the beautiful city center of Lueneburg, we sat down together, looked at the tasks, distributed them and discussed how we could improve even further.
“We like to be hosts,” is the crew’s common tenor.
Not all invitations have been sent out yet, but the field of participants is already quite well populated.
Let’s look forward to what’s to come!
